I ran across a great little extension for Google Chrome because I was researching on how to make my computer run better. It seemed that Google Chrome was exhausting a bunch of my memory and I couldn’t figure out why. Well, turns out I’m a tab horder!! I have 15-20 tabs open at any given time plus a few applications (Word, QuickBooks, Billings, etc). That’s when I came across OneTab. This is what the website says about it:
“Save up to 95% memory and reduce tab clutter
Save up to 95% memory and reduce tab clutter in Google Chrome. Whenever you find yourself with too many tabs, click the OneTab icon to convert all of your tabs into a list. When you need to access the tabs again, you can either restore them individually or all at once. When your tabs are in the OneTab list, you will save up to 95% of memory because you will have reduced the number of tabs open in Google Chrome.
Privacy assurance Information about your tabs are never transmitted or disclosed to either the OneTab developers or any other party. The only exception to this is if you intentionally click on our ‘share as a web page’ feature that allows you to upload your list of tabs into a web page in order to share them with others. Tabs are never shared unless you specifically use the ‘share as a web page’ button. Additional Benefits Depending on how many scripts are running inside your tabs, moving them to OneTab can also speed up your computer by reducing the CPU load. We have also had reports that this also contributes to your computer resuming from sleep more quickly.”
This little gem has saved me a ton of heart ache!! I love keeping the tabs open because I want to go back and read something. Other times when I’m working on a website I have the back side of the site open, the front of the website, a forum, I google things, my project management tool, my email and my calendar. That’s just for one client! This extension has really helped my computer run faster and gives me the ability to work faster.
Give it a try, I know you will like it!
